Miami-Dade County, Miami-Dade County’s point person for all Smarter Cities initiatives

Carmen Suarez: -
Carmen Suarez has been an employee of Miami-Dade County for over 34 years. Upon completion of her Bachelor of Science in Systems Analysis degree at the University of Miami, she joined the Information Technology Department as an entry level Systems Analyst in the Database Administration Unit. Throughout the years she has risen through the ranks and held positions as a database administrator,applications developer and technical manager in several IT disciplines within the organization. She is currently the Division Director in charge of 6 IT managers, with total staff of over 100, belonging to the Enterprise Architecture Division. These staff provide technology support in the areas of applications middleware, database administration and business intelligence for all Miami-Dade County operations as well as systems administration support for the public facing http://miamidade.gov portal, the internal Employee Portal and the Open Data portal, http://opendata.miamidade.gov . Additionally, her division provides server infrastructure support to the County’s 311 Answer Center and business applications development and maintenance for the Regulatory and Environmental Resources Department. Carmen is the County’s point person for the all Smarter Cities initiatives, which include cognitive solutions for government, within Miami-Dade County.
